When you invite a cleaning team into your home, you deserve to know exactly what’s touching your countertops, your floors, and the air your family breathes. “Eco-friendly” and “non-toxic” are words that get thrown around a lot in this industry — so instead of just asking you to trust the label, we want to show you our work.
Here’s a transparent look at the specific products we use, why we chose them, and how they fit into our daily cleaning.
Our Primary Line: Mint Cleaning Products
For the bulk of our surface, glass, and floor care, we work with the product range from Mint Cleaning, a respected Canadian eco-brand made locally in Ucluelet on Vancouver Island. Their formulas are built on:
- Plant-derived surfactants, including coconut-derived sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate
- Natural minerals like baking soda and washing soda
- Pure essential oils — peppermint, rosemary, and bergamot — for scent, with zero synthetic fragrance
What you won’t find: synthetic dyes, petroleum solvents, parabens, or sulphates.
Dr. Bronner’s Sal Suds — For Tougher Surfaces
When we need a heavier-duty all-purpose detergent, we turn to Sal Suds. It carries an EWG Verified safety rating from the Environmental Working Group — a third-party stamp of approval we take seriously. It’s made from plant-derived surfactants and pure spruce essential oil, and it’s cruelty-free and rapidly biodegradable, with no synthetic fragrances or petroleum bases.
Bar Keepers Friend Soft Cleanser — For Stubborn Stains
Mineral deposits, soap scum, and tarnish need something with a bit more muscle, but that doesn’t mean reaching for bleach. Bar Keepers Friend Soft Cleanser skips chlorine bleach, ammonia, and high-VOC chemicals entirely. Instead, it uses oxalic acid — a naturally occurring compound found in leafy plants — combined with natural earth minerals. It’s fully biodegradable and septic-safe.
Less Plastic, Less Waste
We buy our supplies in large commercial bulk quantities and refill our own heavy-duty, reusable spray bottles rather than grabbing a new plastic bottle for every job. It’s a small operational choice that adds up to a meaningful reduction in the plastic we send to landfills compared to a conventional cleaning service.
Honest Talk About the Exceptions
We won’t pretend our entire operation is 100% plant-based, because that wouldn’t be true — and we’d rather you hear the full picture from us.
About 95% of our residential cleaning is done exclusively with the eco-friendly products above. But we do keep a small, controlled inventory of two conventional products on hand: Dawn Dish Soap and Simple Green Degreaser. These are never used in routine cleaning. They’re reserved strictly for rare, extreme situations — like severe post-construction grease or an oil-slicked kitchen restoration — where plant-based cleaners simply aren’t strong enough to safely do the job.
Why This Matters
Trust in this industry is earned through specifics, not slogans. Every product on this list was chosen because it holds up to scrutiny — whether that’s an EWG rating, a fully disclosed ingredient list, or a track record of biodegradability. If you ever have a question about what we’re using in your home, just ask. We’re happy to talk through it.
